Single rise bread with oat meal

Used up a 3-in-1 packet of oatmeal to bake a small loaf of bread. Since it was already late in the evening, decided to do a single rise. The bread is soft as there is some margarine added to the mix. But the texture is more dense. This may be due to the single rise.

Ti wan chye / Di huang miao

Update 26 Sep 2017 Ti wan chye or di huang miao or whatever you call it - this vegetable is very easy to plant. Just stick a cutting into the soil, water it and it should survive. Planted a few cuttings from my supermarket purchase in my prettiest pot! This photo was taken some time after. 31 May 2017 14 July 2017: Before first harvest. Note: Self-watering system. 22 July 2017: Tender leaves. 23 July 2017: After harvest. 9 Aug 2017: A few more leaves. Besides dried coffee grounds, Epsom salt solution will be added as fertilizer next. 26 Sep 2017

Haven't figured it out. Too much or too little water? 11 Aug 2017: Sharing pot with 2 papaya plants. This moringa is doing better. The two pots next to each other. Was the pot too wet? Seeing little buds on the bald plants. 21 Aug 2017 It is better to ignore the pot a little bit i.e. don't water so much. New shoots, really. 6 Sep 2017 Gardeners have to make decisions. Removed (yes, killed!) the papaya tree to make space for the 3 pathetic moringa plants. 6 Sep 2017: Removed the 3 almost bald plants from the black-soil pot to the brown-soil pot. Join the mor

Curry puffs

10 May 2017 Tried making the Food Canon's Auntie Ruby's curry puffs. A lot of work - potatoes, rempah, dough, making the curry puffs itself ... but great taste. I would add more curry powder and a bit more of salt to the filling in future. And tone down the fat in the dough although all the compliments were for the pastry! http://www.foodcanon.com/2012/11/an-auntie-rubys-curry-puff-diary-first.html The first curry puff Deep fried 2nd batch Heated up in the oven the next day 9 Jun 2017 update Added more curry powder, salt and dried shrimps (hae-bee) to the filling and sauteed it to be more dry. Lightened up the dough mix to be less oily. And manually made the curry puffs instead of using the mould, so as to accomodate more filling. This time, I baked the curry puffs.
